Matthew Homes are delighted again to be contributing to the brilliant work carried out by Emmaus who support people who have experienced homelessness.
For many people who have experienced homelessness, losing their self-esteem can be the most dangerous part of their experience. Finding your way out of that situation isn’t easy, particularly when the only options available are temporary fixes, offering a bed for the night but little to occupy your days.
The Emmaus Cambridge social enterprise generates revenue that pays for companions’ home, food and upkeep, as well as providing a small weekly allowance. This is key to restoring feelings of self-worth, showing these individuals that their actions make a real difference, both to their own life and the life of others.
Donations to their shops is key in generating the revenue required. Matthew Homes are very pleased to donate the contents of a second show home to Emmaus Cambridge, supporting the work of this very important cause. Not only do we provide new homes for those fortunate enough to be able to afford a property but in donating the show home furniture for sale through the Emmaus network means that in turn we are helping those less fortunate.
